Here’s how it works:

Hollard runs an annual competition that identifies and rewards outstanding truck drivers who go the extra mile not only to deliver their cargo intact, and on time, but also to look out for other road users and their fleet owners by driving safely and responsibly.

Drivers are observed for speeding (any instance of exceeding 85km/h for longer than 15 seconds), fatigue driving during the day (driving for more than 300km, or four hours, without stopping), and fatigue driving at night (driving for more than 150km, or two hours and 15 minutes, without stopping), as well as the overall distance that's driven, during the competition’s six-month duration –  from May to October.

“Fredericks came out tops in the Tautliners category of the Highway Heroes competition and we are so proud of his achievement! Our data shows that, while entering the Highway Heroes competition necessitates that drivers adopt safe driving habits for the length of the competition, it’s important that they continue to drive safely long after it has ended. This is good news for every road user,” says Elka du Piesanie, Bureau Operations Manager at Hollard Trucking.
