  • Should you not be fully invested in Hollard BCI Unit Trust Funds within your Hollard Investment Plan Account, the annual administration fee will be calculated proportionally using the two fee scales provided in the table above for the respective portfolios.
  • Your Financial Advisor may charge you an initial and ongoing fee. These fees are negotiable between yourself and your advisor. A maximum of 3% (excl.VAT) applies for financial advisor initial fees, and a maximum of 1% per annum (excl.VAT applies) for financial advisor ongoing fees.

What are the tax implications of this investment?

The Hollard Investment Plan is subject to the following taxes:
 

  • Capital Gains Tax: realised on the sale of an investment portfolio if the sale results in a capital gain, i.e. if the asset is worth more when sold than it was when it was purchased. 
  • Interest Income Tax: incurred on any portfolio invested in underlying assets that earn interest and realised in the tax year in which it is earned. 
  • Dividends Tax: incurred on the receipt of a distribution that contains a local dividend component, and withheld by the administrator who pays the tax to SARS on behalf of investors. 

What are the underlying portfolios I can invest in?

There are a range of Unit Trust Funds to choose from. You may select any one, or a combination of them, and you can switch between funds at any time.

Can the investment be used as security/collateral?

You may cede some or all of your investment as collateral/security.

Can the investment be cancelled and does a cooling-off period apply?

No, the investment plan does not provide a guarantee on the investment value of your investment account, nor does it guarantee the performance of the investment. The market value of the investment may fluctuate. The investor carries the investment and market risk, which may include the possibility of losing capital.

Is the investment guaranteed?

Can I make additional contributions to my investment?

Yes, additional contributions can be added to the investment at any time via Lump sum or debit order. Your debit order can start, stop, or be amended at any time.

Can I transfer my existing investment to the Hollard Investment Plan?

Can I withdraw from my investment?

Yes, you may make any number of withdrawals as frequently as you like.

What happens if I pass away?

Your investment forms part of your estate and will be governed by your last will and testament. Any beneficiaries who receive a portion of the investment, according to the instructions of the executor of the estate, may receive their portion as a cash pay-out or a transfer to an investment account in their name at Hollard or another product provider.

Do I need a financial advisor to invest in this product?

It’s not required but we highly recommend that you appoint a financial advisor to assist you. Hollard Investments in their capacity as the Administrator doesn’t provide financial advice and may only supply factual or administrative information relating to the investment products and portfolios.
