Legal cover is designed to protect individuals against any civil, labour or criminal matters they might be facing, with the aim of resolving the issue as quickly as possible and with minimal cost implications to said, individual. While Legal Cover may not always seem like a must-have, it is one of those options you wish you had when it is already too late!
Legal matters such as criminal, civil and labour matters are covered by Hollard’s Legal Cover policy and include identity theft and other benefits such as legal advice; free, standard legal documents; a free 30-minute legal consultation; a free letter of demand and assistance in finding a lawyer. It is important to note that only the policyholder, their partner and their children are covered by this policy – extended family is not covered under this policy. The good news is that no excesses are payable when utilising these services!
The policy gives you the opportunity to get legal advice telephonically or electronically from a fully qualified, experienced and admitted attorney anytime you need legal advice. It offers access to legal documentation and contracts such as lease agreements and employment contracts. In a situation where you need a lawyer, we offer you access to competent consultation and representation by either a practising attorney on our panel or an attorney of your choice.
Our extended legal cover applies to the R120, R150 and R200 Hollard Legal Plans and includes the following bonus benefits:
- Drafting of ante-nuptial contracts before you get married;
- Legal advice for uncontested divorces, providing that the divorce is one that both parties agree to;
- Offer a 60% discount on debt counselling initiation fees, providing you with savings of R3,000 and immediate cover;
- Get a 60% discount on attorney fees for property tariffs;
- Get your property valued for free; and
- Drafting of a basic will.
It is important to note the waiting period – legal cover policies have a waiting period of three (3) months. This means that we will not cover legal costs if the cause of action is within 3 months of the starting date of your policy, however, you will still have access to the legal advice helpline during the waiting period.
One never plans for any type of legal problems, yet no one is immune to them. Make sure you are covered for the unexpected by contacting a Hollard consultant today to ensure your legal backup is in place!
